belong

The opposite of "me," is not "you," but "we." Isn't it amazing how we all have this deep need inside of us to belong. Personally, in my wallet or on my keys I carry a gym card, Library card, Blockbuster, Speedway, Subway, Church Business cards, Visa (platinum...ha), insurance card, just to name a few. I BELONG to all those things and more. I think it is true that people today want to "belong before they believe." That the bridge for someone who does not follow Christ, more than ever needs to be someone with whom they have a relationship with or sense a "belonging" with. So as a church, we must create an environment where people can easily feel they belong, and then allow God's Spirit to draw them to believe.
