motorcycle hall of fame

As a part of a leadership program I'm a part of, we went and toured the Motorcycle Museum and then had our meeting there. On the tour I got to see the evolution of the motorcycle. It is cool to see the progression of thought, ingenuity and a little luck. But it evolved because of those who kept pushing the envelope. In my context of C3 Church, our heart is to keep moving forward and experimenting with ideas and continuing to be on the cutting edge of church ministry. What about you? Are satisfied on a 1952 Huskavarna, or will you go after something newer, faster and better? Never stop evaluating and experimenting.

Love your blog. So just get some conversation going please allow me to throw some questions out on the table........... What if someone IS satisfied on a 1952 Huskavarna? Are they wrong or right? If they are wrong is it because it is a 1952 or because it is a Huskavarna? If the '52 is working and getting them were they need to be then what is motivation or need to upgrade? Just to have the newest, most expensive motorcycle on the block? Is an upgrade ALWAYS better or just in some cases? Sometimes change just for change sake isnt the best course of action. Thoughts?

nice...i agree that most of our upgrades are becuase we are competing with the "Jones". Or, we feel it will somehow meet an underlying need in our lives. Perhaps it does.....for a short time, but then we are back where we started again.

Hmmm. That brings up some interesting thoughts for church culture. Do you think the 1952 Huskavarna was revolutionary when it came out? I wonder at what point it became old news or too old to be of service to a new driver. Maybe it never did only the younger drivers perception is different.

Ya know I look at this emerging/ongoing conversation between older Pastors and younger Pastors the same way. I can see the older Pastors view that this young generation is rebellious and cannot work as a member of a team but wants to be in charge and have everything their way. I also see the young Pastors fresh, new, invigorating ideas and see the frustration and the older guys/gals unchanging hide bound traditions.

I think we are at a VERY exciting and critical point in AG history. It is one of those defining moments of history and I wonder that God has seemingly placed it here and now, and I pray in Pickerington Ohio.

Then I think of the AG in a 100 years and I smile thinking of the new young Pastors thinking of Pickerington like we think of Azusa Street. But Azusa seems to have lost relevance and meaning doesn’t it? I might have too much time to ponder …..

Live loud ya’ll!!!
