the middle of the night

Last night at 1:30 in the morning, our house alarm goes off. From a deep sleep, I jump up and grab my trusty night stick and ran downstairs. It's funny how I was about halfway down the steps before I actually woke up. At the bottom of the steps, I could see the culprit.....in the shadows of the living room! It was none other than the curtain rod which had fallen down and tripped the motion sensor. Our kids?.....they slept through the whole thing, screaming siren and all. We jumped back into the bed and stared at the ceiling for a while and finally drifted back to sleep! Things like that keep life interesting!
